Concert - #chamber

Stradivari Quartet & Samuel Justitz
Xiaoming Wang, Stefan Tarara, violin, Lech Antonio Uszynski, viola, Maja Weber and Samuel Justitz, cello
Program:
Giacomo Puccini, Crisantemi for string quartet
Franz Schubert, String Quintet in C major D 956
About the concert:
The Stradivari Quartet is one of the leading ensembles of its time and performs in renowned venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Philharmonie Berlin and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Numerous recordings have been released by RCA Red Seal (Sony). Puccini's moving oeuvre "Crisantemi" is a string quartet movement composed in mourning for a friend. The main work of the evening is Franz Schubert's String Quintet in C major, composed in the late summer of 1828, an impressive example of the expressive power of Romantic chamber music. The deep, emotional intensity and melodicism are characteristic of Schubert's late work and are characterized by the unusual scoring with two cellos. Artistic director Samuel Justitz will complement the ensemble in this work.

These works are accompanied by two cello ensembles: at the beginning of the concert, Chiara Samatanga performs in a cello duo with Samuel Justitz and at the end of the concert she performs together with her cello class from the Bern University of the Arts.
