Art in the Castle - An inclusive program

Since 2019, people from the Stiftung Wohin Spiez have been painting in the castle and its surroundings one afternoon a week from May to October. The participants artistically explore various themes and motifs of the location and try out different techniques. The program also includes a visit to the respective art exhibition and the opportunity to engage with it. Over the years, this has resulted in an impressive variety of pictures.

Just as important, however, are the experiences and developments that have occurred during the course of the program. After all, attending the program is a challenge for the people of the Stiftung Wohin in many respects, which is why the project deliberately started in 2019 with an open-ended approach. In the meantime, the project has become a permanent offer that neither the Stiftung Wohin nor the Spiez Castle Foundation would want to do without.

Spiez Castle Foundation - a commitment to inclusion
The Spiez Castle Foundation is committed to being an open castle. The collaboration with the Stiftung Wohin is a conscious commitment to inclusion. The offer achieves positive effects on various levels: we have gained people who have a close relationship with the castle, we gain new perspectives on the castle and the art exhibitions, our art studio and the castle are revitalized, at the end of the season we celebrate the works created at the internal dernière, in the museumshop we sell postcards of selected works and in 2023 we designed a first exhibition together with other partners.

Stiftung Wohin Spiez
The Stiftung Wohin runs two residential homes, a day care center, a leisure center, assisted living communities and outpatient residential support for people with mental disabilities in Spiez and Thun on behalf of the Canton of Bern. The offer also includes activities in the garden, kitchen, household and studios; artistic design is an integral part of this and, with the program in the Castle, is also offered outside the residential home.
