Notes

Preliminary remark
The entire castle complex belongs to the Spiez Castle Foundation. It maintains and cares for the historic buildings and grounds and makes them accessible to the public. To ensure that these cultural assets of national importance are preserved for future generations and that all guests enjoy their stay on the grounds, we thank you for your respectful behaviour.

Car parks / access
There are a limited number of parking spaces in front of the castle (subject to a charge). These belong to the municipality of Spiez, which also manages the car parks. The Spiez Castle Foundation cannot reserve parking spaces and has no influence on charges or any fines.
Driving on the castle grounds, including the castle courtyard, is prohibited. Exception: handling of goods, for example for weddings, by prior arrangement (Mrs Ariane Klein).

PARK & GARDEN

Walls and balustrades
Climbing any walls, balustrades, fountains, sculptures etc. is prohibited.

Toilets
The toilets in the castle are reserved for museum guests and visitors to the castle café (season 1 May to 31 October, see opening hours). The nearest public toilets are located in Spiez Bay and, during the bathing season, in Walenrain.

Animals
Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the castle grounds.

Smoking
Smoking is permitted in the outdoor area; the ashtrays must be used.

Food and drink / picnics / aperitifs
Eating and drinking is permitted throughout the park.
Picnics are permitted in the castle park on the benches in small groups; for picnics in larger groups (12 people or more) we would be grateful if you could let us know in advance. Waste must be disposed of in the rubbish bins (PET separately, please take used glass back with you). The benches must be left clean.
Aperitifs can be booked with the Spiez Castle Foundation; private aperitifs with drinks and food you have brought yourself are not permitted anywhere on the castle grounds.

Lawns
The lawns are not to be used for picnics, for playing or as sunbathing areas. A meadow for picnics and (sun)bathing is located in the immediate vicinity of the castle in Walenrain.

Flowers
Entering flower beds is prohibited; picking flowers is not permitted.

Fountains
Bathing in the fountains is prohibited (also applies to animals). The fountains do not carry drinking water.

Music
The playing of music is prohibited.

Fire / fireworks / candles / torches
Fire is prohibited on the entire castle grounds. This also applies to fireworks, torches, candles, lanterns etc.

Balloons
The launching of balloons is not permitted on the entire grounds of the Spiez Castle Foundation; this ban also applies to so-called biodegradable balloons.

Rice / rose petals / confetti
The scattering of rice, rose petals, confetti and the like is not permitted anywhere on the grounds.

Carriages and limousines
Carriage and limousine services are permitted for guests of the Spiez Castle Foundation by prior arrangement. It is not possible to drive in the inner courtyard.

Tents
Tents are prohibited on the entire site.

CASTLE MUSEUM

Behaviour
Consideration must be shown for other guests; this means in particular speaking quietly and switching mobile phones to silent mode. In addition, running, frolicking, climbing and throwing objects are not permitted; exhibition objects and showcases may not be touched (exception: touch screens and hands-on stations in the tower). Exhibition objects and installations, sculptures and walls may not be climbed or used as seating.

Luggage, umbrellas and wet clothing
Small handbags up to max. A5 are permitted. Rucksacks and larger bags must be locked in lockers. Umbrellas must be deposited in the cloakroom. Wet clothing must also be left in the cloakroom. The Spiez Castle Foundation accepts no liability for items and valuables left in the cloakroom and lockers.

Children
Children under the age of 12 are only permitted to visit the castle museum if accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Infants
The museum is not accessible with pushchairs. Baby changing facilities are available. The feeding of small children with drinking bottles etc. is only permitted in the entrance area of the museum.

Food and drink
Eating and drinking is permitted in the entrance area of the museum, but is prohibited in all exhibition rooms.

Groups
Every visit to the castle museum with a group of 10 or more people must be registered (even without booking a guided tour).

Animals
Animals are not permitted in the castle museum with the exception of guide dogs.

Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all castle rooms.

CASTLE CAFÉ

Smoking
Smoking is permitted in the outdoor area with consideration for other guests. The interior of the Schloss-Café is non-smoking.

Animals
Pets are allowed in the Castle Café.

GENERAL

Safety
The instructions of the staff must be followed at all times; otherwise you may be asked to leave the castle grounds. Payments made, for entry, etc., will not be refunded.
During installation and de-installation work in the castle rooms and church, viewing restrictions may apply.

Liability
Spiez Castle accepts no liability for objects and valuables deposited in the cloakroom and lockers.
Visitors are liable for all damages caused by their behaviour, whether inside or outside.
The stay on the Spiez Castle premises is at your own risk. The visitor is liable for accidents caused by their own negligence or through ignoring the warnings and instructions of the staff.


Photography and Filming

Photo Shoots in Park & Garden and indoor
Professional photographs - for example photo shoots for wedding couples in the park - are possible during opening hours. You will need authorisation from the Spiez Castle Foundation for this. A contribution towards expenses of CHF 200.00 is charged to support the maintenance of the park.

3. please register at the museum ticket office on the date. After payment you will receive the authorisation. Payment possible in cash or by card.

Use of images
If recordings are used for commercial purposes, e.g. posting on accounts used to advertise and sell products, authorisation must be requested from the Spiez Castle Foundation before publication.

Castle Museum
Photography for private use is permitted in the castle museum (without flash); tripods and selfie sticks may not be used.

Park & Garden
Photography for private use is permitted in the outdoor area.

Filming / drones on the grounds of Spiez Castle Foundation
In the case of filming, prior contact must be made in order to regulate the authorisation and tariffs.
Filming with drones is expressly not permitted anywhere on the grounds in order to protect the buildings, guests and the privacy of the tenants of the properties located on the grounds. - Thank you for your consideration!
